What would happen if you started exploring your world, your thoughts, your relationships, your work, and your passions with pure curiosity? They say that fear and curiosity cannot exist at the same time. So if you’re looking at a certain situation with curiosity—”I wonder what will happen here? Let’s just see!”—it’s hard for fear and judgment to creep in.

The Exploration is about shifting into that child-like sense of wonder in everything you do:

  • I wonder who my next client will be. I can’t wait to find out!

  • I wonder how my kid will handle this hardship. I’m curious to hear their point of view.

  • I wonder what will happen if I say no to that commitment. I’ve never done that before!

  • I wonder what my friend really wants in this situation. I’ve never really asked.

  • I wonder how I’ll feel if I choose a different approach. Maybe it’ll be fun!

Leap! Curiosity in Action [ Creative Homework ]

Your challenge is to use your curiosity to drive your actions. One way is by taking a leap. Listen to the audio above and then decide what leap you’d like to take!

Guidelines (from Playing Big by Tara Mohr):

  1. Your leap can be started and finished within one to two weeks

  2. It’s simple, an action that can be described in a short phrase

  3. It gets you playing bigger and being more visible now

  4. It gets your adrenaline flowing

  5. It puts you in contact with those you want to reach or influence (helping you be known for the thing you’re curious about)

  6. At its center, it has a learning goal

What it is NOT:

  1. A decision. It needs to be a decision + action

  2. Solitary. It needs to get you out of hiding

  3. About only sharing with people who already know you well. This is about connecting with people outside your immediate circle.

  4. Taking a course or learning more. It’s about sharing your gifts and vision with the world now.
